David Lawrence

Pastor

Pastor David Lawrence was born and grew up in in Leeds, Alabama. He professed faith in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior at ten years of age. He sensed God's call to vocational ministry at age 16. David and his wife, Karen, met while in college and married in 1979. They have three grown and married sons and one grandson. He is a graduate of Mobile College (now University of Mobile) and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.

He previously served churches as pastor in Tennessee and Alabama prior to coming to Lucy Baptist Church in July 2005. Believing that Scripture was fully inspired by God, without error, and that it is completely sufficient (2 Timothy 3:16-17), he typically preaches through a book of the Bible, verse by verse. He believes that the word of God is living, powerful, and practical, equipping us for every good work in every area of our lives.

Since the mandate for the church is the Great Commission, Pastor David is seeking to serve the Lord by personally equipping people. It also requires that we get outside the walls of our buildings and our homes. He seeks to obey the Great Commission mandate to make disciples through personal and small group discipleship.

His life verse is Galatians 2:20 which says, I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Pastor David believes that a church is a home for God’s children.  His vision for Lucy Baptist Church is to be a family of faith where people of all ages, races, social, or economic backgrounds can find common ground in the grace, love, acceptance, and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, then grow in their relationship with one another and together reach out to serve and reach our world. David and Karen join with the Lucy Family in inviting you to come and experience the warmth of God's presence and the welcome of God's people!
