Our Mission

Lucy Baptist Church exists to Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples. We fulfill this mission in each of our "four fields" of ministry:  the congregation, the community, the family, and the world.

We exist to Love God. This is based on Matthew 22:37 where Jesus said that the greatest commandment in the law is, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is a way of saying "love God with every part of your being."  We express our love for God through prayer, worship, and stewardship (Acts 2:42-47).

We exist to Love People. This is based on Matthew 22:39, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." This is part two of the Great Commandment. Our love for people flows out of our love for God. We demonstrate our love for people through ministry and fellowship (Acts 2:42).

We exist to Make Disciples. This is based on Matthew 28:18–20, "And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'” We make disciples through evangelism, missions, and personal disciple-making (Acts 1:8, 2 Timothy 2:2).
