We desire healthy, biblical families. God created both the family and the church. In His wisdom he intends them to work in accord with one another. Therefore, one of the special areas of emphasis at Lucy Baptist Church is the Field of the Family.

Our ministries to students and children are led by our associate pastor, Hunter Ferguson, and fall under the category of Family Ministry.

We believe husbands are called to be the spiritual leaders in their homes (Ephesians 5:25), and parents are primarily responsible to disciple their children (Deuteronomy 6:4-7). The church serves a critical role in discipling children, but only as it comes alongside parents in their God-given responsibility to nurture their children spiritually.

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. (Deuteronomy 6:4-7 ESV)

Inter-Generational Ministry

Another focus of our Family Ministry is the concept of inter-generational relationships. Scripture commands older women and men to instruct younger church members (Titus 2:3-6, 2 Timothy 2:2). Naturally, we are more comfortable gathering with people of similar ages, and there are times when we do that at Lucy Baptist Church. However, we believe when multiple generations connect and relate, we better represent God's family and better accomplish His will. Throughout all our ministries, activities, and relationships, we aim to strengthen families.
